April Congressional Visits
16 All-Stars and 2 staff met with their Congressman’s aids, and in some cases, the Congressmen themselves regarding S. 661 & H.R. 2188 Kinship Caregivers Support Act.

Assisted Generations United in providing youth with a Kinship Story to support the Kinship Caregiver Support Act.

1 FosterClub Young Leader served as a NFCC Youth Panelist
Presented to 60 NFCC members during the Policy Forum
Presentation: “Youth Engagement in Media and Policy”

National Permanency Convening, DC
4 FosterClub Young Leaders and 1 staff member attended
Participated in Journalist Roundtable, workshop presentation focusing on youth engagement in the KAW campaign

National Foster Parent Association (NFPA), Atlanta Georgia

Manned an exhibit booth and presented multiple workshops and activities on permanency, relationships and transitioning.

July Congressional Visits
On July 14th, 5 ‘08 All-Stars met with their Senator’s aids, and in some cases, the Congressmen themselves regarding the Reauthorization of the Adoption Incentive Program.

National Conference to End Homelessness, DC
3 FosterClub Young Leaders co-presented workshops on youth development, child welfare, and intervention planning as relating to homelessness to Child Welfare Professionals.

Attended by 5 FosterClub Young Leaders.
Program included advocacy and leadership training.

CASA Conference, Astoria, OR
7 FosterClub Young Leaders spoke at the Oregon Director’s conference of 50 people.

Destination Future, Chevy Chase, Maryland
Attended by 7 FosterClub Young Leaders and 1 staff member
Presented conference of 450 Adults and 200 youth ages 16 through 20
Scope of work: Newspaper Fashion Show, Transiton Panel, and facilitiated group discussions each day of conference

Oregon Native Teen Gathering
2 FosterClub All-Stars provided a leadership presence at this annual conference of 26 youth and 11 adults.
Scope of work: ILP workshop Oregon IL Coordinator. FosterClub Young Leaders presented their experiences with ILP in terms of transitioning out of care, higher education, and funding.

Bend, Oregon Youth Conference
Attended by 6 All-Stars and 1 staff member.
Young leaders presented Milestones and FC411, Hot Air (General Session) Workshops to 15 youth and 4 adults.

Nevada State-Wide Teen Conference, Las Vegas
Attended by 3 FosterClub Young Leaders and 1 staff member
Presented 4 workshops and activities on Resilience and Relationships to over 100 youth participants.

KristyCare Child Welfare Convening, Portland, OR
7 FosterClub Young Leaders spoke at the KristyCare staff meeting of 50 people.

Idaho 1st Annual Child Welfare Conference, Boise, Idaho
Attended by 2 FosterClub Young Leaders and 1 staff. Conference attended by 400 Adults.

Trillium CHARPP: Sharing Best Practices in Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families, Portland, OR

Casey Research Services Group. Homelessness and mental health issues conference. Attended by 1 FosterClub young leader.
Scope of work: Co-presentation of a 75-minute presentation of a research paper to 20 Child Welfare Professionals.

Idaho 1st Annual Child Welfare Conference, Boise, Idaho
Attended by 2 FosterClub Young Leaders and I staff. Conference attended by 400 Adults.

Public Children's Service Association of Ohio (PCSAO) Conference Columbus, Ohio
2 FosterClub Young Leaders and 1 staff member attended conference of 200 adults and 50 youth.

Daniel Memorial Growing Pains Conference, Kissimmee, Florida
3 All-Stars and 3 staff attended the conference of 207 youth and 368 adults

Congressional Visits: 5 All-Stars gave awards to members of the House and Senate who were particularly crucial in helping pass the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoption Act. Read a FosterClub blog entry on the awards for more info.

It’s My Life Conference, Hollywood, CA
12 All-Stars and 3 staff attended the conference of over 700 participants—youth in foster care, alumni of care, caregivers, practitioners, and advocates—who share innovative practices designed to guide preparation for adulthood services for youth aging out of foster care.

> NOVEMBER
KAW Reception, Washington, DC
current foster youth and alumni; birth, foster, and adoptive parents; relative caregivers; tribal leaders and families; advocates for children; judges; public and private providers and others touched by foster care from across the nation to celebrate passage of the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008.
